En Marche will have to find another candidate.

Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer deemed unlikely on Monday a possible candidacy as LREM leader for regional elections in Ile-de-France.

He recalled that he was currently "monopolized by the health crisis".

"Collective work took place in the majority for the regional, it is probably without me that it is intended to happen", he explained on LCI.

"Everyone can see that I am monopolized by the health crisis, I also have very important reforms to carry out, in particular the Grenelle of education, I have no time for the electoral process", justified the minister.

Laurent Saint-Martin (LREM) has notably positioned itself to replace him.

The general rapporteur of the budget to the Assembly indeed declared Sunday on Radio J to be in line to lead the majority to regional in Ile-de-France if Jean-Michel Blanquer were to give up doing so.

To see if others also want to go.
