Minutes before the verdict is due, while the Senate withdraws one last time, Ravsan B. paces around in front of his chair.

The accused, hair cropped short, five-day beard, wears a black and white G-Star brand tracksuit.

As in fitness training, the 30-year-old turns his upper body to the left, stretches his arms, and looks reverently at the ceiling of the high security court.

Shortly afterwards, on the 20th day of the hearing in Düsseldorf, the judge announced the verdict: seven years in prison.

Ravsan B. has to go to prison because he was part of a cell of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) in this country. Together with six other young Tajiks, he planned jihadist attacks in Germany in spring 2019, led by an international network that directed and supported the terrorist cell in Germany.
