Hanover (dpa / lni) - After the death of a 93-year-old woman, her son has to answer in court today (10:00 a.m.).

According to the Hanover District Court, the dementia patient weighed only 26 kilograms at the time of her death and was severely dehydrated.

The 74-year-old had brought his mother from a senior citizens' home in Hanover to her own apartment in December 2016.

He himself lived mostly in Hamburg and is said to have only been to Hanover for a while.

The woman died in June 2017.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the man of dangerous bodily harm through omission.

In addition, exposure: he is said to have abandoned his mother in a helpless position, even though he was in his care, exposing her to death or serious damage to health.

Accordingly, the defendant was aware that the woman needed permanent nursing care and that her food and fluid intake had to be monitored.
