Halle (dpa / sa) - In view of the waning infection rate in the corona pandemic, the city of Halle wants to relax the urban measures for the first time.

The weekly market for grocers will reopen on Wednesday, said Mayor Bernd Wiegand (non-party) on Tuesday.

Distance rules and wearing a face mask are still mandatory.

A lifting of the 15-kilometer radius of movement comes into question on Friday at the earliest, said Wiegand.

The country's containment ordinance contains a “mandatory provision” according to which the measure should be lifted as soon as the incidence for five days is below 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days.

However, this standard is based on the values of the Robert Koch Institute.

The values of the RKI sometimes differ from the city's figures.

The mountain zoo should also reopen on Friday, emphasized Wiegand.

One day is necessary for the final preparations for the reopening, he explained.

There is a mask requirement.

A maximum of 600 visitors are also only allowed to be on the zoo grounds at the same time.

The pet shop and animal houses will remain closed.

According to Wiegand, a snack will open for take-away sales.
