Berlin (dpa) - Despite the tense sporting situation, Hertha BSC does not want to be active on the transfer market under all circumstances.

"We trust the squad," said sporting director Arne Friedrich on Tuesday at a digital media round to introduce coach returnees Pal Dardai.

If a player would help the team directly, then there could still be a commitment.

Otherwise the Berliners would “keep a steady hand”, emphasized Friedrich.

The capital club from the Charlottenburg district occupies 14th place in the table in the Bundesliga.

On Sunday, Hertha separated from coach Bruno Labbadia and sports director Michael Preetz.

The team needs a hierarchy, explained Friedrich.

"Pal is very experienced when it comes to that."

Friedrich also emphasized that the squad was very talented after a major change in the summer of last year.

"It's still in its infancy, so to speak."
