The spread of more virulent coronavirus mutants worries many countries which are considering ways to protect their fellow citizens from this danger.

One of the solutions consists in preventing the arrival of these mutants as much as possible by reducing movements.

In an interview, the Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer evoked various options: reinforced border controls with the particularly affected areas but also, if necessary, the almost total reduction of air traffic.

According to the German press, Angela Merkel asked her Minister of the Interior last weekend to work on different scenarios.

The Chancellor is said to have criticized the fact that several tens of thousands of Germans left on a trip abroad during the holidays.

The federal police have observed in recent days numerous breaches of the new, stricter rules for people arriving by plane from risk areas.

Alarming information for the German authorities.

In front of conservative parliamentarians, Angela Merkel said she was not in favor of a total travel ban, but she pleaded for a suspension of tourist travel.
