Corona: FDP calls for clear "if-then rules" for restrictions

The FDP insists on a clearly defined perspective for easing the corona restrictions.

What is needed is a "clear step-by-step plan" with clear "if-then rules", said party and parliamentary group leader Christian Lindner on Tuesday in Berlin.

Discussions between the federal and state governments on this topic have already started.

A decision must be made by mid-February at the latest.

The current containment measures apply until February 14th.

To justify his request, Lindner referred, among other things, to "disturbing images" from the Netherlands, where there had been serious riots during protests against the Corona containment measures on Sunday and Monday evening.

Something like that shouldn't happen in Germany.

So that the "great consideration and discipline" of the people in this country is not gambled away, clear perspectives are necessary as to how things will go on, said Lindner.

Lindner: "Exploit all creative, all innovative possibilities"

For a year now, the fight against the corona pandemic in Germany has been "mainly using the instrument of closure," explained the FDP leader.

This demanded "privation and sacrifice" from the people.

This spring "a change in strategy" must succeed ".

This also includes making use of “all creative, all innovative possibilities”.

Lindner cited the use of reservists in health departments and school lessons “in orphaned cinemas and hotel halls” as examples.

The FDP health expert Christine Aschenberg-Dugnus warned that "various key figures" should be included in the required step-by-step plan.

In addition to the seven-day incidence of new infections, the “dynamics of development” must also be taken into account.

“Degree of hospitalization” and “outbreak spread” should also be included.

Then, depending on the location, different opening steps could be taken in individual regions.

At the same time, Aschenberg-Dugnus emphasized that she did not see "any great opportunities" for easing in February.

If there are opening options, the education area will be the first in line.
