Cancer drug succeeds in reducing the reproduction of corona in the body by 99%

The Spanish company "Pharma Mar" said, on Tuesday, that a scientific refereed study published in the "Journal Sense" magazine has proven the effectiveness of its drug "Plitidepsin" in the treatment of infection with the emerging coronavirus.

And the scientific study reached results based on tests in the pre-clinical phase.

The company's share price rose by 13%, bringing its share price close to 99 euros.

The study showed that the drug, which was originally used to treat certain types of cancer, was able to reduce the reproduction of the virus in the body by 99%, as scientists conducted experiments in a laboratory environment in New York, San Francisco and Paris, to reach results.

The company said that the data obtained by the tests calls for extensive clinical trials, considering that its drug is able to treat people with the emerging coronavirus, and it is communicating with regulatory authorities to complete the experiments.

And the drug used, "Plitidepsin" is licensed for use in some countries to treat cancer, and the company has found that it is able to inhibit the protein in the host body, and in a way that prevents the ability of the Corona protein to reproduce.

The world is witnessing increasing restrictions, closures and quarantine decisions aimed at stopping the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused protests that in some places have led to violence and riots.

The only hope that looms on the horizon is the vaccination campaign against the epidemic, which is progressing unevenly, as vaccination operations are still registering a slowdown in countries or even not yet started.

The new Corona virus has caused the death of 2.1 million people in the world since the WHO office in China reported the emergence of the disease at the end of December 2019, and the United States is the country most affected by the epidemic, with 421 thousand deaths, followed by Brazil 218 thousand deaths.
