At an exceptional level since the start of the season as a giant, the Italian Marta Bassino is the immense favorite of the World Cup race at Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) on Tuesday.

With four wins in five giants contested this winter, Marta Bassino is approaching the absolute record of six victories in a season of World Cup giants, held by the Swiss Vreni Schneider and Sonja Nef.

He has three races left, including Tuesday's at home, to get there.

She can already equal the record for an Italian skier, held by Denise Karbon since the 2007/2008 season.

Sölden (Austria), Courchevel (France), and twice Kranjska Gora (Slovenia), the 24-year-old Italian shone in all the races offered this winter.

She went off the track once during the 2nd Courchevel giant.

“I won on three different types of races, on three different snows, and I'm proud of it. I saw Marcel Hirscher, Anna Veith, they were able to win on several types of tracks, I also succeed and c 'is incredible,' Bassino explained 10 days ago.

It even seems to have a margin on the competition: it has won its four victories with an average of more than half a second in advance, a comfortable mattress in alpine skiing.

In the giant standings, she has 128 points ahead of the Swiss Michelle Gisin.

And it is perhaps on another classification that the skier is eyeing ...

Asked by the specialized Swiss site skiactu.ch on the general standings duel between the Slovak Petra Vlhova (1st) and the Swiss Michelle Gisin (2nd), the Italian title holder Federica Brignone replied spontaneously: "watch out for Marta Bassino, I tell you! ".

Currently 4th at 206 points behind Vlhova, Bassino has scored in all disciplines and is starting to show ease in speed, notably finishing 2nd in the St Anton super-G on January 10.

The big meeting of his season is also approaching with the Worlds in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy (February 8-21).

What offer him a new giant to eat.
