In a final attempt to save the business, an application for extra financial support of almost half a million kronor was submitted to Örebro municipality at the end of last week.

- The elite association has been around for over 30 years and has achieved incredibly good results for Örebro and it would have been very sad if we had to close down, says board member Annsofie Erlingmark.

The aid is not enough

From Örebro municipality, they already receive both rent support and elite support, but despite the fact that it is a relief for the club, it is not enough to cover the lost income.

- If you look at other sports and associations, there are big differences in the grants that are issued, so you would have hoped that it is possible to do more, she says.

"Already has low rent"

Municipal councilor Ullis Sandberg (S) has not yet looked at the association's application but believes that no other elite club in the municipality has received any extra support during the pandemic.

"Örebro municipality already has quite big challenges ahead of this year, so it is not the case that the money already exists, but then it must come from elsewhere," she says.

What the municipality, among other things, has been able to help the elite associations with is lower rental costs.

- But Örebro volleyball already has a very low rent, so you should also know that.
