January 25, 2021 US President Joe Biden's intention to impose a ban on entering the United States on most non-US citizens from the United Kingdom, Brazil, Ireland and most of Europe has been confirmed by the White House.

The ban will also be extended to South Africa, after the reports of the new coronavirus Covid-19 variants.

A decision that is part of the plan of the new democratic administration to fight the epidemic that is spreading in the most affected country in the world both in terms of infections (25.14 million) and deaths (over 419 thousand).

The resolution is adopted a week after former

President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would lift those restrictions on travelers from these countries.

.

A move deemed imprudent by the new president decided on a rigorous strategy.

Trump, who had imposed a ban on commercial flights at the start of the pandemic,

signed an executive order for the lifting

before leaving the White House

The document, which was due to come into force on January 26, provided for international travelers to enter the United States upon a negative virus test result within three days of the flight.

Restrictions that had been maintained, however, against China and Iran due to "their lack of transparency and their lack of cooperation with the United States so far in the fight against the pandemic".

An order that Biden has contested since before he took office.

"At a time when the pandemic is worsening and variants of the virus are spreading, this is no time to lift restrictions on flights from abroad," tweeted Jen Psaki, White House Communications Officer with Biden a few days ago.
