Winter is particularly harsh for the few hundred exiles stranded at the Calais border.
They lack tents, duvets, shoes ... The Auberge des migrants association therefore had the idea of using Amazon as a social network.
On the website of the e-commerce giant, around ten testimonies from refugees were posted
under the desired objects
.
All have passed through the Calais “jungle”.
They tell their stories and describe the current situation.
"I had a tent like that when I was in the" jungle ", there were three of us inside, it's quite waterproof, it's a good tent ...", testifies one of them.
"
The people made a comment from the object and by talking about the object, they talked about what they experienced in the camps in Calais,"
explains François Guennonc of
the Auberge des Migrants
.
The objective is to target some of the people who go to Amazon and who do not know the situation in Calais.
So it can both publicize the situation in Calais and perhaps trigger orders which will arrive at the warehouse and which will be distributed here to the exiles on the coast
”.
Amazon did not authorize this campaign to appeal for donations.
Some testimonies from exiles were also withdrawn from the comments.
The needs are in any case greater than usual at the moment in Calais.
Evacuations from camps by the police take place every week.
Tents, duvets and even toothbrushes are often lost or damaged during these operations.
