Munich (dpa / lby) - The SPD has asked the state government not to shift financial responsibility on to the federal government or the municipalities in the event of a possible reimbursement of daycare fees.

"I am happy when our demands are taken up by the state government - but I consider a debate about who will bear the costs to be inappropriate," said Doris Rauscher, member of the SPD state parliament.

The Free State should also finance rapid corona tests for educators, she demanded.

As in spring 2020, the parents of crèche, kindergarten and after-school care children in Bavaria can hope that they will soon get the contributions back for the time of the renewed corona lockdown.

According to reports, a final decision in the coalition was still pending - according to dpa information, the topic could soon play a role in the cabinet.

It may also happen very quickly: On Tuesday, Social Affairs Minister Carolina Trautner (CSU) will take part in the press conference after the cabinet meeting.

“When parents look after their children at home, they are making a reliable contribution to fighting the pandemic.

The Free State should also be reliable and ensure that the contributions paid are repaid immediately, ”demanded Rauscher.

And the state also has to do more with quick tests for daycare staff.

"Bavaria always has the strictest corona rules among the federal states and should also set a good example when it comes to financing."

Due to concerns about the further spread of the coronavirus, there has only been emergency care in daycare centers in Bavaria since mid-December.

All parents who cannot organize the care themselves are allowed to take advantage of this, regardless of their occupation.

In the past few days and weeks the demands for reimbursement of costs for parents from the ranks of the opposition had grown louder.

So far, parents have to pay the fees even if they look after the children at home.

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers, the lockdown will apply until at least February 14th.

Last spring, after long discussions, the state government decided to reimburse at least part of the daycare fees for parents.

In addition, corona lump sums were paid to the providers of crèches, kindergartens and after-school care centers, which ranged between 150 euros for kindergarten children and up to 300 euros for crèche children.

The providers received the lump sums for the months in which the facilities only offered emergency care and only if they did not ask the parents to pay.

Parents who used the care did not get any money back.
