  • Elections in Catalonia Salvador Illa will leave the Government tomorrow and Pedro Sánchez will announce his replacement after the Council of Ministers

Not because the resignation of Salvador Illa has been announced and assumed, it is no longer abrupt.

His march, which will become official on Tuesday, will take place just two days before the date that he himself had proposed to appear in the Congress of Deputies to give explanations about the state of alarm and why he does not allow the autonomies to apply restrictions that transcend it.

Last Wednesday, the Cabinet of the Minister of Health contacted the president of the Health Commission of the Lower House, Rosa Romero (PP), to agree with her that Illa's appearance in said commission would be held on the 28th January, hours before the start of the campaign.

Sources from the Ministry of Health assured this newspaper on Thursday that until the minister resigned, nothing would be canceled, although Illa's intention was to go after the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

But they did not rule out "nothing", and added that the celebration of said appearance would depend on the Bureau of Congress.

Illa's departure before reporting to Congress has roused the PP, the party with which he agreed on the date.

"Sánchez once again cheats and mocks Parliament by not rendering Illa accountable about the pandemic in a timely manner," criticized Cuca Gamarra, parliamentary spokesman for the 'popular'.

"With the most critical moment of the pandemic, Spain has been without a minister. He was on the campaign trail," he tweeted.

"And today of electoral campaign to the Agency of the Medicine ...", has lamented.

The PP Deputy Secretary for Participation, Jaime de Olano, has added three rhetorical questions: "Will they repeat the 8M? How many more deaths will there be due to the electoral calculation of Sánchez and Illa? Sánchez will not do anything against the third wave until the Catalan elections? ".

And the deputy Alicia García has settled that "this Government has no soul", because "with 400 deaths a day, in the third wave of infections, the Health on the verge of collapse", puts "the votes before the lives by an electoral calculation" .

Now, La Moncloa has announced that the minister lives his last 24 hours as head of Health, which leaves another loose end: has Illa already "studied" the measures required by the autonomies of the PSOE and the PP, as well as Country Basque and Catalonia?

At last week's meeting of the Interterritorial Health Council, the minister opposed the regional clamor to enable "tools" to advance the curfew to regional governments, or selective confinements.

Illa said that she was taking notes and that she was going to "study."

But the truth is that you leave before you have made a decision.

If his successor in the Ministry were Carolina Darias, there would be no problem in resuming the conversations in the Interterritorial Council this Wednesday, since she has participated so far in all of them, as Minister of Territorial Policy.

In fact, the Council hangs on its ministry.
