Angelbachtal (dpa / lsw) - After the fire in an event and sports hall in Angelbachtal (Rhein-Neckar district), the police identified two 12-year-olds as alleged perpetrators.

Since the boys are not yet of criminal age, the parents are responsible for the damage, a spokesman for the Mannheim police said on Monday.

The parents are already in discussion with the community.

The damage caused by the fire is therefore around 100,000 euros.

Fireworks triggered the fire at the end of November, which the boys threw into a supply shaft in the hall while they were playing.

According to the police, the fireworks were released from the age of 12 and thus legally acquired.

The police had discovered the two children because a camera had filmed them playing in the hall.

The investigators had already assumed arson as the cause of the fire shortly after the crime.
