Nienburg (dpa / lni) - Because of a dangerously high infection rate with the corona virus, the Nienburg district is expanding the tests in old people's and nursing homes.

Despite a rate of around 200 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days, the district decided against imposing exit restrictions.

District Administrator Detlev Kohlmeier (non-party) said this to journalists on Monday.

There will also be no limitation of the range of motion to 15 kilometers.

In schools, a mask requirement applies from Tuesday for two weeks in class from the first grade, said the district administrator.

The organization of school lessons prescribed by the Ministry of Culture will not change.

"We believe that we have put together an effective package of small and targeted measures," said Kohlmeier.

According to him, there are currently 130 to 140 infected people in old people's and nursing homes, 10 of the 20 homes in the district are currently affected.

Therefore, the employees should be tested daily from Monday.

There will be a PCR test twice a week or a quick test three times a week for the residents.

Visits would not be banned, but would be limited to a specific person per resident for the next few weeks.

Another hotspot in the district is the hospital in Nienburg.

There is a freeze on admission except for births or emergencies.

Patients would have to go into quarantine at home for ten days after discharge, said Kohlmeier.

Because of the accumulation of infections, the district had many tests examined for mutations.

However, neither the British virus strain nor other mutations were found that are considered particularly contagious.
