Biden to Macron: let's strengthen our relationship, together with NATO and the EU

January 25, 2021 Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated US President Joe Biden on the phone on his inauguration. This was reported by government spokesman Steffen Seibert in a statement.
The chancellor expressed to the new US president the willingness of Germany to take responsibility together with its European and NATO partners in dealing with international tasks.
Biden and Merkel agreed on the need to strengthen international efforts to counter the coronavirus pandemic. Finally, the Chancellor welcomed the return of the US to the World Health Organization.
