Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The state chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalian Greens, Mona Neubaur, sees the start of appointments for corona vaccinations as a "complete disaster".

Now it is urgent to readjust so that sufficient server capacities are available, demanded Neubaur on Monday in Düsseldorf.

In the morning there were problems making appointments: both hotline telephone numbers and the website www.116117.de were initially unavailable.

Since Monday, over 80-year-olds living at home in North Rhine-Westphalia have theoretically been able to make an appointment to receive a dose in vaccination centers from February 8th.

Neubaur called for old people to be given the opportunity to be vaccinated by their family doctor.

This would give them more security and confidence, stressed the Greens.

After all, the pharmaceutical manufacturer Biontech recently announced that its vaccine could be used within a few hours, even if there was no cooling at minus 70 degrees in this short period of time.

Then, for example, “vaccination afternoon” could be offered by general practitioners instead of central vaccination centers currently such as “car wash unused and paid for by the municipalities,” said Neubaur.

If the hope of rapid vaccination is not fulfilled because of the delivery difficulties of the pharmaceutical manufacturers, it must now be said openly where loosening cannot be seriously expected, or where protective measures with a view to the more dangerous coronavirus mutants should even be strengthened.

Neubaur also called for the economic aid to be paid out at short notice and unbureaucratically.

So-called November aid, which is not paid out even in January, is a further contribution to the loss of trust of the citizens in politics.
