A Madrid court has acquitted former commissioner José Villarejo of his first trial in which he was accused of libel and false complaint against the former director of the National Intelligence Center (CNI) Félix Sanz Roldán.
The magistrate of the Criminal Court number 8 of Madrid has issued an acquittal against José Manuel Villarejo, who nevertheless remains in preventive prison by order of a judge of the National Court who investigates him in thirty pieces for alleged espionage work.
The sentence is not final and an appeal can be made against it before the Provincial Court of Madrid, according to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM).
