Paris (AP) - After the brutal attack on a young person in Paris, the district mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, called for increased police presence in the area.

Dog handlers and armed city police should be on site, he told French broadcaster BFMTV on Monday.

At the weekend, it became known that a 15-year-old had been brutally beaten by several youths in the Parisian business district Beaugrenelle in mid-January.

The video from a surveillance camera shows the attack in which the young people hit a person lying on the ground with baseball bats and kick them with feet.

In the hospital, the victim was placed in an artificial coma, from which he awoke on Saturday.

In that case, investigations are ongoing.

Goujon said the reasons for this incredible violence are not known.

He spoke of a gang that had come to the 15th arrondissement to fight.

French media reported that the attack could be an inter-gang conflict.

“Le Parisien” wrote that the victim's mother knew of young people who were repeatedly attacked by a gang from a nearby Paris suburb.

On Instagram, she thanked for the public support on Monday and announced that her son was already doing better.
