January 25, 2021 "The first case of the Brazilian variant observed in Italy to date is being evaluated at the Varese hospital".

This was announced by the Ats Insubria management of the Lombard province.

This is a man who returned in recent days from Brazil to Malpensa airport via Madrid, and tested positive for the swab of the most feared variant of the coronavirus.

The patient is "in good health, but as a precaution he was hospitalized for tests in the infectious diseases department", explains the Ats.

The man's family members were also placed under surveillance by the Health Protection Agency and the consequent investigations were initiated.

Finally, Ats Insubria adds that "the situation is being monitored in conjunction with the Welfare Directorate of the Lombardy Region and the Higher Institute of Health".

And he points out that "all the public health measures envisaged by the current health protocols have been adopted to control the spread of the Brazilian variant on our territory and, to date, the situation is no cause for alarm".
