"President Biden signed an executive order today, setting out a policy according to which any American who is fit to serve in the US Armed Forces may have the opportunity to do so," RIA Novosti quoted the White House as saying.
It is noted that Biden "believes that gender should not be an obstacle to military service and that America's strength lies in its diversity."
In 2017, Trump announced that he would ban transgender people from serving in the military.
