Ten days after the lynching of Yuriy, a 15-year-old teenager who was violently beaten in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, investigators seem to favor the trail of a clash between rival gangs.

Guest of Europe Morning, Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France region, returned to this barbaric aggression.

On January 15, Yuriy, 15, was beaten up by a group of young people and left for dead in the 15th arrondissement of the capital.

Out of the coma, he has since been hospitalized in serious condition.

To date, no arrest has yet taken place but the investigators favor the track of a settling of scores between rival gangs, a phenomenon well known by their services.

Valérie Pécresse, the president of the Ile-de-France region, was the guest this Monday in Europe Morning.

She rebelled against this ultra-violence and demanded a better legal response.

"The state must give cities the means to protect themselves"

"I call them the new barbarians and it's been years that I denounce this recurring, powerful phenomenon of gang wars with aggressors and victims who are increasingly younger" she assured.

For the president of the Ile-de-France region, it is necessary to stop this spiral of ultra-violence and to act: "Today, in addition to the national police, we need real armed municipal police. in all cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants. And the state must give the cities the means to protect themselves ".

We judge months after a delinquent of 15 or 16 years old, and for him it's a life. He stole an egg at the start, and at the end it becomes a big delinquent. And in the same way the sanctions are totally unsuitable. The educational measures and the work of general interest are used very little when they should be used immediately to avoid escalation ".
