Several American aircraft carriers entered the South China Sea on Sunday.

The United States speaks of defending the “freedom to navigate in international waters”.

But it is above all a question of indicating to Beijing that Washington is ready to defend Taiwan against any aggression.

A group of four aircraft carriers arrived in the South China Sea on Sunday, the same day Taiwan was moved by the presence of Chinese bombers and fighter jets in its airspace.

On the island, the national radio broadcast warning messages and the Taiwanese army deployed its anti-aircraft missile system.

Dissuade China from any aggression

, during his Senate hearing for confirmation as secretary of state, said China is the biggest challenge for the United States.

Antony Blinken has also announced that he wants to invest in US military capabilities to deter China from any aggression.

He also wants to rely on international organizations to face Beijing.
