Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger has reiterated his demands to relax the lockdown from mid-February and to open hotels, for example, according to a media report.

"After a quarter of a year of lockdown, it is time that we slowly offer positive prospects again to people and the economy," said Aiwanger (Free Voters) of the "Passauer Neue Presse" (Monday).

The prerequisite for this is that one is spared the exploding numbers of infections caused by virus mutations.

The most urgent for him is the opening of the elementary and special needs schools in mid-February.

For example, he considers face-to-face teaching in elementary schools to be justifiable when the incidence is below 200.

He spoke out in favor of opening trade and hotels, with an incidence of "around 100".

Hairdressers and service providers should also be opened “by mid-February at the latest,” he said.

It should also be taken into account whether there is a broad distribution of the infection situation or whether hotspots such as nursing homes are driving up the numbers.
