24 January 2021 This is the map of vaccines in Italy and the timing for administration which, for the over 80s, could postpone by four weeks due to delays and production cuts by companies.

Total doses Italy:

initial options 202 million doses.

Then go up to about 226 million doses, increasing up to 250, always exercising the right of option provided for by the European agreements that allows you to block 13.46% of vaccines for each contract signed by the union.

This according to what was said by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza last January 13 in the Chamber.

Vaccine campaign budget

: 1,370,449 administrations carried out to date in Italy, 73.9% of the total doses delivered (1,853,475).

Of these, 93,662 concerned the second dose, the so-called "booster" dose, equal to 6.8% of the total administrations.

Timing administration categories:

race against time to respect the priority commitment to vaccinate all health and social health workers, guests and staff of the RSA, over 80 and fragile, oncological, cardiological and haematological patients by March.

In all, almost 7 million Italians.

But not the other categories: the 13 million and 400 thousand Italians between 60 and 79 years, the 7 million and 400 thousand with at least one chronic comorbidity, in addition to the staff.

The forecast hypotheses speak of a shift of 4 weeks for the over 80 and 6-8 for the rest of the population.

Vaccine 1, AstraZeneca (Oxford):

if the vaccine is given the green light by the EMA (vaccination has already started for the EU countries, the vaccination has already started in the United Kingdom) expected arrivals on 15 February, then again on 28 and 15 March.

According to the initial plan, in the first quarter of 2021 28 million and 269 thousand doses should have arrived in Italy but by the end of March the doses available will be less than 15 million, therefore about half of what was expected.

Confirmed by Astrazeneca, due to a production problem, a 60% cut which for Italy would mean going from 8 million to 3.4 million doses in the first quarter.

In total, the government's initial vaccine plan included an option for 40 million doses in total.

Question mark about the age for administration: if Ema were to opt for the under 55, Italy will have to review the priority categories.

Vaccine 2, Pfizer / Biontech:

the vaccination plan of last December 2 for the Comirnaty vaccine provided for 27 million doses of which 8,749,000 in the first quarter of 2021, 8.1 in the second quarter, 10.1 in the third.

Distribution began on December 28, with 470,000 doses per week scheduled.

Then the readjustment of the Belgian production site but from next week Pfizer's supply will be back up and running, the company said, underlining that the reduction was in the number of vials and not in doses (6).

Vaccino 3, Moderna:

second vaccine operational in Italy, with a supply of 10.8 million doses of which 1.346.000 in the first quarter, 4.7 in the second and as many in the third.

Other vaccines:

at the end of the authorization processes, Italy will be able to count on 26.92 million Johnson & Johnson doses if they are all successful;

40.38 million sanofi;

with Curevac 30.28 million doses.

Perhaps for the summer also the all-Italian vaccine from Reithera in collaboration with Spallanzani.

One of the 65 vaccines in clinical phase that has completed phase 1. To be added other options activated gradually.
