January 24, 2021 The European Union intends to "enforce contracts signed" by Pfizer on vaccines, if necessary also by resorting to legal means.

This was said today by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, host of the "Grand rendez-vous" broadcast on Radio Europe 1. "We can use all legal means at our disposal for this purpose", said Michel.

Without specifying the possible actions of the EU, Michel said the Union will insist on asking for transparency on the reasons for these delays.

He then explained that after Pfizer's first warning of an expected delay of several weeks, Brussels took a very tough position and managed to reduce these times.

"We slammed our fists on the table and eventually the announced delay of several weeks turned into a slowdown in deliveries," he said in the interview.
