"At the end of December, it was decided that 2.9 billion rubles of this amount will go to cover the costs of purchasing milling wheat, and 1.8 billion rubles - to pay compensation to bakery enterprises," the message says.

The Ministry of Agriculture was instructed to bring the funds to the recipients.

The Cabinet of Ministers explained that this order is part of a set of measures to reduce food prices in accordance with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In December 2020, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved the rules for compensating bakeries for part of production costs in exchange for fixing the price of products.

On December 9, Putin demanded that measures be taken to stop the rise in food prices within a week.

On December 15, Mishustin signed a number of decrees to stabilize the situation on the food market.
