Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 24 (Reporter Xia Ke) The Beijing Municipal Education Commission recently issued a notice that since January 23, the city’s middle school students will no longer be at school, and all students will complete their work at the end of the semester online.

At the same time, training institutions in the city suspended all offline training and collective activities.

During the epidemic, due to long hours of living at home, studying and working, smart phones, computers and other electronic products have attracted the "eyeballs" of children and young people, and the pressure on young people's myopia prevention and control has increased.

In this regard, experts said that we should be alert to the increase in myopia during the home, and pay attention to the prevention and control of myopia while preventing the epidemic.

According to the results of the 2020 Ministry of Education's sample survey on the eyesight of primary and secondary school students, during the first half of 2020, the myopia rate of primary and secondary school students increased by 11.7%.

Experts believe that one of the important reasons is excessive use of electronic products.

Zhao Mingwei, director of the Department of Ophthalmology, Peking University People's Hospital, said that if online learning is required, in principle elementary school students should use the screen for no more than 2.5 hours a day, and no more than 20 minutes each time; middle school students no more than 4 hours a day and no more than 30 minutes each time.

During the winter vacation, children's and young people's gaming and entertainment video time accumulates no more than 1 hour per day.

The Ministry of Education recently released the "Eye Care Tips for Primary and Secondary School Students and Young Children in Winter Vacation in 2021", which proposes that online learning should choose electronic products with larger screens and higher resolution.

Zhao Mingwei introduced that when using electronic products, we must pay attention to adjusting the brightness to make the eyes feel comfortable, not too bright or too dark.

In addition to relaxing your eyesight indoors, you should also look far away from the window. Strengthening outdoor activities and full exposure to the sun is the simplest and effective way to prevent the occurrence and development of myopia.
