Sandhausen (dpa) - After four wins in a row, VfL Bochum suffered a small setback in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga.

At the end of the first half of the season on Sunday, coach Thomas Reis's team did not get past a 1-1 (0: 1) at SV Sandhausen, which was threatened with relegation.

Robert Zulj saved VfL with a goal in the 84th minute but still one point after Kevin Behrens (44th) had put Sandhausen in the lead.

Although they gave up points for the first time this year, the Bochum team remain second.

Sandhausen ended the first half of the season in relegation place 16.

In a balanced first half, attacker Simon Zoller missed Bochum's only real chance with his head (16th).

Shortly before the break, Behrens only hit the post from a few meters for the increasingly courageous hosts and then took the lead.

In the 66th minute, Bochum's Zulj failed from a promising position to goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino, whom the SVS had only loaned out on Thursday from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.

Six minutes before the end, the offensive man aimed more precisely after a free kick and at least headed the guests a draw.

In stoppage time, Sandhausens saw new signing Patrick Schmidt for repeated foul play in the 68th minute.
