Winter sales and against all odds.

For this first weekend of the winter sales, there was a crowd in downtown Lille.

In the streets, but also in shopping centers.

This was particularly the case at Euralille, to such an extent that the crowds on Saturday began to make people talk on social networks.

If the winter sales were officially opened on Wednesday, the introduction of the 6 p.m. curfew prevented many customers from participating during the week.

Suddenly, it was the crowd of great days which rushed into the city center of Lille, Saturday, to go scratch the good deal.

20 Minutes

was able to observe many queues in front of many shops, despite the cold and a very unpleasant rain.

This is where shopping centers stood out, offering the opportunity to shop in the warm and dry.

"Obviously they are laughing at us"

So much so that they were taken by storm.

Photos of the crowd trampling in the alleys of Euralille were posted on Twitter.

These impressive images, in view of the coronavirus epidemic, have sparked reactions from shocked Internet users.

"Restaurants are accused of circulating the virus, but in #Euralille it apparently circulates less";

"Obviously they're kidding us";

"Eating at a restaurant is more risky than doing the sales in this crowd?"

On leaving the second confinement, the photos of a huge queue in front of the Primark store, in the Euralille gallery, had also been debated.

On December 1, the prefect of the North had also given notice to Westfield Euralille "to meet the requirements of social distancing and respect for barrier gestures in the queues of the shopping center and its surroundings".

Which has been done, at least at the entrance to the mall.

The rules for reopening businesses after the second confinement impose a gauge corresponding to 8 m2 per customer.

With its 66,500 m2, Euralille can therefore accommodate 8,312 people, excluding staff.

However, it is not the shopping center that is the target of criticism from Internet users, but rather the government.

“We cannot go to a 50,000-seat outdoor stadium #LOSC but no problem to pile up like sardines in #EuraLille”, regrets a user.

"No question of opening the ski lifts for February on the other hand very nice mix of population this Saturday at the Lille shopping center", laments another.

“And the restaurants, bars and gyms remain closed and everything is fine!

A strategy to fight against the coronavirus epidemic, the logic of which escapes these Internet users.

One of them does not hesitate to make the connection between the crowded aisles of the shopping center and the announcement made by the JDD of an "imminent reconfinement".
