In fact, the retired gang would start vaccinating the care staff at Ängelholm Hospital on 1 February.

But then doses were released earlier and the group had to throw themselves out at short notice.

The first to get their sticks in the arm were employees in emergency and intensive care at the hospitals in Helsingborg and Ängelholm.

- For me, it is extremely important to be involved and contribute, this feels like the light in the tunnel, says Marianne Wernebrink.

She is not retired but has had a year off.

The others in the group are former colleagues from the intensive care unit and retired nurses - in addition to a midwife.

The "five gang" lined up quickly

They will vaccinate both hospital employees in Ängelholm and municipal employees for the next ten weeks.

- We got the names of these five girls and after two seconds they had said yes.

Fantastic response, we are so grateful for the help.

We call them the five-gang, says Marie Falkeheden, business developer.

- More people will be needed to help, but we start like this.

In the clip above, you see when the gang tries to insert a needle - a procedure that could be necessary if someone gets an allergic reaction to the vaccine.
