Valborg in Lund is something out of the ordinary.

Or so it usually is.

But this year, the corona pandemic is stopping the celebration.

That message comes from the municipal management already now.

Thus, the big spontaneous party in Lund City Park is canceled for the second year in a row.

- We will return with a message about what solutions there will be on the last of April in Lund.

But I can say that it will not be time to have Sweden's biggest spontaneous party in Lund City Park this year either, says Philip Sandberg (L), chairman of the municipal board in Lund.

Maybe no manure

When the celebration was canceled last year, chicken manure was spread in Stadsparken to avoid spontaneous celebrations.

But this year it may not be needed.

- Last year we had completely different tools.

Now, for example, there is a pandemic law where you can prevent this type of crowd.

Last year it did not exist and then this increase was what was best suited, says Philip Sandberg (L).

"Pain in the heart"

The celebration is also canceled in Uppsala.

“Setting up as a resident of Uppsala hurts the heart.

But in the current situation, planning to gather 150,000 people in the city is not defensible.

All Uppsala residents probably understand that.

Now we are reloading for next year ", says Erik Pelling (S), chairman of the municipal board in Uppsala, in a press release.

The decision was made jointly with other actors in the Walpurgis collaboration, including Uppsala University and the police.
