Thousands of residents of one of Hong Kong's poorest and most populous neighborhoods were ordered to stay home yesterday, in compliance with the first closures imposed by the authorities since the emergence of the new Corona virus.

While China recorded 206 new cases of "Corona", a year after the city closed Wuhan, the first outbreak of the outbreak, the total number of confirmed cases of the virus around the world reached about 98.2 million, and deaths reached 2.11 million.

In detail, Hong Kong announced the imposition of its first closure due to "Corona" yesterday, in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus in one of the city's poorest and most populated neighborhoods.

The closure, which affects about 10 thousand residents in 150 residential blocks in the Jordan neighborhood of Cologne, was announced and entered into force immediately.

Under this measure, any resident of buildings located within a specific geographical area, where an increasing number of cases of the epidemic has been recorded, is prohibited from leaving his home if he does not present a negative test result for Covid-19.

And the Hong Kong government announced in a statement that it intends to conduct checks for all residents of this area, located in the Jordaan district, within 48 hours.

"Residents will have to stay home to avoid infection until they get their test results," Health Minister Sophia Chan told reporters.

This measure includes about 150 residential buildings, and more than 3,000 police have been mobilized to enforce it.

Hong Kong was one of the first places where the virus spread after it appeared in China a year ago.

Meanwhile, China has recorded more than 200 new cases of Coronavirus, as new outbreaks threaten to derail the success it has achieved in containing the virus, a year after the city of Wuhan was closed, the first outbreak of the outbreak.

There are 206 new cases in total: 99 of the 107 asymptomatic cases that were registered yesterday, of which 107 were locally transmitted, and 17 were imported from abroad.

Another 99 new cases were without apparent symptoms.

The northeastern provinces of Heilongyang and Guilin, which are the most recent epicenters of the virus, recorded 69 of the new clinically diagnosed cases.

And 15 cases were recorded in Hebei Province, as the Corona virus had not yet been brought under control in Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital, in early January.

Beijing and Shanghai recorded three cases each.

The new spike in COVID-19 cases comes in the north, while China marks the passage of a year since the start of the 76-day lockdown of Wuhan, where the virus first appeared in December 2019.

For its part, the Norwegian government announced yesterday the most stringent partial closure measures since the beginning of the epidemic, in Oslo and its suburbs, after detecting infections with the British mutated virus in a town near the capital.

The measures include closing stores and shopping centers, except for essential stores, and issuing instructions urging residents to limit movement.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus around the world reached 98 million 184 thousand and 973 cases, yesterday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University and Bloomberg News.

The death toll from "Covid-19" reached two million 107 thousand and 533 cases.

The United States leads the world in terms of the number of injuries and deaths.

• China records 206 new cases of "Corona", a year after the closure of Wuhan.

• A partial closure was imposed in Oslo and its environs, after a focus of the mutated British virus was detected.
