Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The SPD Rhineland-Palatinate is voting on its program for the state election on March 14 at a party congress this Saturday (10:00 a.m.).

Because of the corona situation, the party congress is organized in a hybrid format with up to 400 delegates.

The party's presidium meets in a former factory hall in Mainz, and the delegates are connected digitally.

The program focuses on economic and educational policy as well as health and care.

Climate protection should also take up more space than before.

According to General Secretary Daniel Stich, 28 amendments to the draft program were received, which are to be discussed and decided.

The program commission was headed by the three deputy state chairmen Alexander Schweitzer, Doris Ahnen and Hendrik Hering, who also play central roles at the party congress.

The agenda also includes a keynote speech by the top candidate, Prime Minister Malu Dreyer.
