Stuttgart (AP) - The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has given the Christian Democrats in Baden-Württemberg courage for the upcoming state election campaign.

Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) is clearly a popular Prime Minister, said Söder on Saturday in a video message to the digital state party conference of the Southwest CDU.

But: "Bayern Munich can also lose if you choose the right tactics and the right strategy."

The Baden-Wuerttemberg CDU top candidate Susanne Eisenmann is a real political figure with a large stature, who can excellently fill a prime ministerial office.

He is working with the new CDU federal chairman Armin Laschet "great," said Söder.

"But it is also clear: without the south, little is possible in Germany."

The south is Germany's economic and technological engine - it should stay that way.

He would be happy if the CDU were to lead the government in Baden-Württemberg again and then be in harmony with Bavaria.

He could do well with Kretschmann, said Söder.

“But still: everything has its time.

And maybe there is a new time. "

The Südwest-CDU has everything it needs to win the election.

A new state parliament will be elected in Baden-Württemberg on March 14th.
