Hanover (dpa / lni) - The district of Nienburg has exceeded the critical seven-day value of 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

The incidence on Saturday was 210.9.

The number of infections rose by 46 to 1827, according to the country's management report.

According to a district spokesman, 50 to 60 percent of the infection rate currently takes place in nursing homes and at Helios.

There was a corona outbreak among patients and employees at the Helios Klinikum Nienburg.

Of the 28 nursing homes in the district, ten were affected by corona outbreaks on Thursday evening.

The district will decide in the coming days about possible restrictions due to the high number of new infections, said the spokesman.

To support the nursing homes and the hospital, support from the German armed forces and aid organizations was requested.

The detected infections rose nationwide by 1207 to 135 140. The seven-day value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was 91.8 for Lower Saxony.

A value above 50 is considered critical for tracking the contacts of the infected. The number of deaths recorded in one day in connection with the coronavirus was given as 40, a total of 2944 people died.
