Berka vor dem Hainich (dpa / th) - The victims of the school bus accident a year ago were remembered in Berka vor dem Hainich (Wartburgkreis) in silence and without public events.
"The trauma runs deep with everyone involved, in the community, but also with me," said Thuringia's Minister of Education, Helmut Holter (Linke), who laid flowers with local politicians on Saturday.
Holter said the accident in which a girl and a boy died at the age of eight, was the "worst event so far during my time here in Thuringia".
On January 23, 2020, a school bus on the way to the elementary school in Berka slipped on a smooth surface in front of the Hainich, overturned several times and fell into a ditch.
Two children died and many were injured.
The bus driver went into shock.
