"The command of the Gyumri garrison, together with the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia, is checking on the fact of a traffic accident on the bypass road in the city of Gyumri (Republic of Armenia) with the participation of a serviceman under a contract of a Russian military base," TASS reports.
As specified in the Southern Military District, the soldier was on vacation and, moving in a personal car, made a collision with a cargo trailer parked in the wrong place on the side of the road.
“As a result of an accident, the car caught fire.
The serviceman died on the spot from his injuries, ”they added.
