The Danish Emil Jakobsen, author of 12 goals on Saturday in the victory over Japan (34-27), was named man of the match a week after testing positive for Covid-19 at the start of the Handball World Cup in Egypt.

And to think that the award in question was baptized "karma award" ... In just 26 minutes, the young left winger made a festival for his first match in a World Cup: 12 goals in 14 shots, or 86% success.

And all on the eve of his 23rd birthday!

The Egyptian adventure had started badly for Jakobsen, tested positive on his arrival in Cairo and isolated from his teammates in another hotel.

The International Federation (IHF) even surprised by making its name public on Friday January 15.

On Thursday, six days later, the Danish Federation (DHF) announced that his last test was negative and that the prodigy could join his teammates at Gezira Palace, the sanitary bubble where the Danes are staying with many other teams, and apply for the fourth game against Qatar.

The GOG Handbold player (1.90 m, 92 kg) had to wait two more days to make his debut in the competition, and actively participate in the qualification of the title holder for the quarter-finals.

The 27th World Championship is taking place behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, while 3 of the 4 venues have been built for the occasion.

The Egyptian organizer has given up welcoming the public just three days before the opening match.
