Stuttgart (dpa) - CDU top candidate Susanne Eisenmann warned her party 50 days before the state election to appear self-confident and relaxed.

“We also have to like ourselves,” said the Minister of Culture on Saturday at the end of her speech at the state party conference in Stuttgart, which was mainly held digitally.

If you don't like yourself, you won't be elected.

"I advise you to exude a certain serenity," said the 56-year-old.

It's only with each other and not against each other.

The Southwest CDU, which led the government in Baden-Württemberg for decades until 2011, is currently a junior partner in a coalition with the Greens.

In the latest polls, the Union is either on a par with Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann's Greens or five percentage points behind this party.

In direct comparison with Kretschmann, Eisenmann is far behind in terms of popularity.
