Stuttgart (dpa) - The CDU top candidate Susanne Eisenmann has rejected the accusation of election campaign maneuvers in education policy.

In the fight against the corona pandemic, one now has to take a more thorough look at the children than in spring, said Eisenmann, who has been vehemently campaigning for the opening of primary schools and daycare centers for weeks, at the digital CDU state party conference in Stuttgart on Saturday.

"It has nothing to do with the election campaign."

She was surprised at the casualness and lack of sensitivity with which “everything social is lumped together”.

Education and care need a special place in the debate.

For months she has been campaigning for this with full conviction - “not because there is an election campaign”.

At the party congress, Eisenmann advocated making Baden-Württemberg future-proof as Prime Minister, leading it successfully into the next decade and securing prosperity.

The next decade will decide «whether we find our way back to the top or settle down comfortably in a quiet, sleepy place.

Whether Baden-Württemberg accepts the challenges of the future or only philosophizes about them at a high level and very intensively, "she said - a swipe at her opponent, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens).
