The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police Lieutenant-General Abdullah Khalifa Al-Marri confirmed that the laxity of some people in precautionary measures against the Coronavirus (Covid-19), such as physical spacing and wearing a muzzle in private family gatherings, family parties and weddings, has caused an increase in the number of people infected with the virus, calling on community members to inform Dubai Police, Health Authority or any of the competent regulatory authorities when detecting violations of this kind.

Al-Marri told «Emirates Today» that «there is a tangible commitment in public places, whether streets, commercial centers or parks, to precautionary measures, as it is rare to detect a person who does not wear a mask or does not adhere to other measures, and this reflects society’s awareness and appreciation of the efforts made by the state to protect Everyone and their safety secured ».

He added that the problem remains in private gatherings that remain within the family, such as weddings, stressing that "no country in the world can overcome this pandemic without the solidarity of society. It is impossible for the police to monitor what happens in the home, car, or family gatherings." .

He stressed the need for a person to ask himself before attending any gathering whether the attendees committed themselves to conducting the smear or examination before attending, and whether there is a commitment to the specified number to participate in the gathering, because there are parties in which the number is limited to 20 or 40 invitees, and there are 80 people, and this Denied behavior, albeit in an individual setting.

He stressed that the state did not fail at all, as testing centers are everywhere, and in Dubai there are about 50 centers to take the vaccine from the virus, and anyone can get vaccinated within 10 minutes, so the responsibility remains on the individual himself, indicating that “there are two types. Of the vaccine are currently available in Dubai, and the country has approved a third vaccine for emergency cases.

He explained that "society is a partner in the success achieved in facing the pandemic, and the high percentage of the population has changed their culture and became more concerned about themselves and the safety of others, so we must continue this solidarity until we control this pandemic and limit the increasing numbers in the recent period."

And he called on everyone to assume their responsibilities in reporting when monitoring any violation of the precautionary measures, whether in public or private places, "because by this behavior they contribute to the protection of their society and reinforce their positive role towards it."

It is noteworthy that the Supreme Committee for Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai decided to limit attendance at social events, weddings and private parties to first-class relatives, and to only 10 people, whether in hotels or homes, as of next Wednesday.

It also decided to oblige restaurants and hookah cafes to increase the distance between tables from two to three meters, while reducing the number of people allowed to sit at the table from 10 to seven for restaurants, and four for hookah cafes.

She said that the decision comes due to the high number of violations of non-compliance with precautionary and preventive measures, calling on all members of society, including citizens, residents and visitors, as well as institutions of the government and private sectors, to fully commit to applying preventive measures to confront the "Covid-19" virus.
