The Dubai Health Authority has updated the list of accredited laboratories for COVID-19 testing procedures, to include 20 government and private laboratories.
She stressed that swabs are limited to some health facilities, namely: hospitals, licensed outpatient clinics, one-day surgery centers of categories (B) and (C), and licensed home health care providers.
The health facilities are required to comply with the fixed service price for the "Covid-19" test, as announced, and to refrain from adding any fees for the delivery of the test result, such as phone fees, text messages, special service or urgent services.
The authority stated that the accredited laboratories for "Covid-19" tests include: Agomix Al Barsha South 2, Al Jalila Hospital Laboratory in Dubai Healthcare City, Al Zahra Hospital in Al Barsha, American Hospital Oud Metha, Mina Lab in Al Quoz 4, Emirates Specialist Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City, Eurofins Biominis in Al Bada Freiburg Medical Laboratory in Al Karama, Al Garhoud Hospital Laboratory in Garhoud, Iranian Hospital Laboratory in Al Bada, Virology Laboratory at Latifa Hospital in Oud Maitha, Central Laboratory at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai Healthcare City, Medsol Medical Laboratory with monitors, National Reference Laboratory in Al Barsha South 2, Pure Health at Dubai Airport, Uni Labs, Jumeirah, Star Metropolis Clinical Laboratory, Al Hamriya, Thumbay Hospital, Al Qusais, Vivit Genomic Laboratory, Al Bada, York Diagnostic Laboratories, JLT.
The authority stressed that swab collection services are limited to some health care facilities after the approval of the authority, which are: hospitals, licensed outpatient clinics as part of hospital groups, one-day surgery centers of category (B) and (C), and licensed home health care providers.
She stated that day surgery centers must collect samples from patients who were scheduled for an appointment 72 hours before the scheduled medical procedure.
The clinical laboratories have requested that their information system be integrated with the Hessana platform, that the swab collection facilities have a valid contract with the authority, and that samples not be sent to clinical laboratories outside the Emirate of Dubai, and that secondary and tertiary laboratories are approved by the authority to test “Covid-19”.
The authority emphasized that a "Covid-19" test should only be requested from a licensed doctor.
As for suspected "Covid-19" cases, the treating physician must give clear and comprehensive instructions to the patient regarding self-quarantine so that he is informed of the results.
She pointed out that it is preferable to take a sample or the primary diagnostic test (Covid-19) from the upper respiratory tract sites.
Lower respiratory specimen testing is an option for patients who suffer from productive cough or who are receiving artificial respiration.
The authority stated that saliva samples are collected after obtaining prior approval from the health regulation sector at the authority and following quality assurance verification procedures, and that this type of sample is intended for examining children without symptoms up to the age of 16 years, and children who may be uncooperative to take swab samples from The pharynx.
Samples should be collected only in hospitals or outpatient clinics under the supervision of a trained health care professional, and in aseptic conditions in a closed room equipped with negative pressure and disinfection measures taken after each sample collection.
The authority emphasized that health facilities that collect swabs from patients must ensure that the type of swab used is compatible with the testing devices of the accredited laboratory.
In addition, health facilities must update the swab collection data in the Sheryan system daily before 12 am.
Terms of service
The Health Authority stated that the services for treating the "Covid-19" test are limited to three types of health care centers, which are: Health Authority laboratories, independent laboratories, and laboratories inside hospitals.
She said that health care facilities and medical laboratories seeking approval to provide the service must submit the application through the "Sheryan" electronic system, comply with the requirements of the authority's examination, register on the Hasana platform and obtain the necessary training.
