Berlin (dpa / bb) - Despite the corona pandemic, the Berlin Greens have broken a sound barrier in the number of their members.

At the end of November, 10,469 Berliners had a green party membership, 16.1 percent more than a year ago.

As a survey by the German Press Agency also showed, the CDU also recorded a solid increase of 6.8 percent to 13 042 members in the previous year (as of the end of November).

The SPD, on the other hand, had to give up, but remains the party with the largest number of members: at the end of 2020 it had around 19,500 supporters, a good 200 or around 1 percent fewer than a year earlier.

In the case of the left, there was a slight decrease of 0.4 percent to 7,611 party members.

The FDP kept the number of its supporters practically constant at 3501 (plus 0.1 percent).

At the AfD, the number of members fell by 15.1 percent to 1,342.
