Doha (dpa) - At the Club World Cup in Qatar with FC Bayern, only 30 percent of the actually possible number of fans are allowed into the stadium because of the corona pandemic.

The organizers announced this on Saturday in the capital Doha.

At the tournament, which is planned for two stadiums at the beginning of February, fans would be admitted “according to the guidelines of the Qatari Ministry of Health”.

That said Fatma al-Nuaimi, spokeswoman for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) responsible for hosting the World Cup.

The two newly inaugurated stadiums usually offer space for 40,000 spectators each.

The Club World Cup, scheduled from February 4 to 11, was supposed to take place in December, but has been postponed due to the pandemic.

Strict measures apply to players and officials.

Stadiums and facilities for training and those for journalists should be disinfected on an ongoing basis.

All participants must present a negative test result before arriving in Qatar and retest at the airport.

The fans of the Club World Cup should be divided into three groups depending on whether they have already been vaccinated and whether they have been infected with Corona since October 1st.

Members of the remaining third group must prove a corona test before each game, which must not be older than 72 hours.

The tournament also serves as a test run ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
