Gütersloh (dpa / lnw) - Around two years after the accidental death of the Serbian singer Saban Saulic on the A2 near Gütersloh, an appointment for the legal processing is still pending.

The Gütersloh district court had to cancel a first appointment at short notice in spring 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

Almost a year later, according to the director of the court, there is still no new hearing date.

The reason for this is the tightened entry requirements from Serbia to Germany in the corona pandemic.

"The co-plaintiffs can currently not arrive," said Axel Meyer of the German press agency.

Saulic had a large fan base, especially in the Balkans and with his compatriots in Germany, and was considered a superstar.

Before his death at the age of 67 in February 2019, he gave his last concert in Bielefeld.

Then he was critically injured in a rear-end collision on Autobahn 2 near Gütersloh during the night on the way to the airport together with his keyboardist Mirsad Keric.

Both died in the hospital.

A third passenger was also injured.

A 36-year-old German is accused.

The accusation is: negligent homicide in two cases, negligent bodily harm in one case, dangerous interference with road traffic and driving without a license.

According to the local court, the man has admitted the allegations.
