"The telephone conversation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the new head of the CDU Armin Lashet has just taken place," Melnyk said.
According to the Ukrainian ambassador, this is the first conversation between the new CDU leader and the head of a foreign state after the announcement of the election results for the chairman of the ruling party in Germany.
Earlier, Laschet was officially approved as the new chairman of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany.
