Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Despite the renewed corona-related school closings, Saxony-Anhalt's Education Minister Marco Tullner wants to enable full school qualifications.

The CDU politician told the German Press Agency that the specific examination modalities are currently being worked on.

At the same time, consultations with the regional student council took place.

Before that, Tullner had consulted with his official colleagues in the conference of ministers of education.

The panel decided on Thursday that the high school exams should be written.

Exams should also be taken at vocational schools, as far as the infection rate allows.

Solutions are also to be found for secondary and secondary school leaving certificates.

According to the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the aim is for all young people affected to receive qualifications that are comparable to those of other age groups - and that all countries recognize for their future careers.

It should also be possible to repeat the school year without it being calculated as an additional year.

The resolutions are an important signal, said Tullner about the agreement.

Despite the goal of full-fledged degrees, according to the minister, it is clear that the restrictions caused by the corona situation must be taken into account.

In Saxony-Anhalt the schools have been in emergency operation since mid-December.

The final years are the only ones who do not currently have to study at home, but receive regular face-to-face lessons.

However, they were also affected by the first Corona school closure in March and April 2020.

Saxony-Anhalt is currently one of the federal states most severely affected by Corona.

Despite tough measures since mid-November, the number of new infections, intensive care patients and deaths initially continued to grow and is currently only falling from a high level.

The lockdown will also apply to schools until mid-February and should help to finally contain the spread of the virus.
