The tremor took place at 7:33 p.m. this Friday evening near Strasbourg.

With a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale according to the National Seismic Monitoring Network (Rénass), it was felt quite far away.

At least twenty kilometers north of the identified epicenter, next to La Wantzenau, and as much south, as far as Illkirch-Graffenstaden.

“I thought it was the boiler, or a big truck passing in the street,” said a resident of the city.

This is the largest earthquake since Friday December 4.

That morning at 6:59 am, it had been of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale, again according to the Rénass.

The latter indicated that the earthquake of January 22 was an "induced event", which means that human activities are at the origin.

Like the geothermal activities carried out, in the shutdown phase, on the Reichstett-Vendenheim site.

The operator, Fonroche, has not yet confirmed.
